Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network
Tools & Resources
The Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network (KCAAEN) develops and provides tools and resources that assist in developing and assessing programs related to arts education for State Alliances and the general public. Each tool and resource is available for download below.
Developed in 2009, the KCAAEN Arts Education Advocacy Tool Kit is a resource for State Alliances and the general public to use in planning, organizing, and implementing their arts education advocacy efforts. The tool kit includes information on topics such as messaging, developing an advocacy plan, and the nine habits of effective arts education advocates. A companion video helps prepare advocates to make visits to their state and national legislators.
The KCAAEN developed an effective tool known as A Community Audit for Arts Education: Better Schools, Better Skills, Better Communities to assist local education, community, and cultural leaders in assessing the status of arts education in their schools and school districts, and to encourage community partnerships to strengthen and expand arts education for all students.
Developed as a companion piece to A Community Audit for Arts Education, the Community Audit Resource Assessment is meant to more thoroughly inventory available school and community arts education programs and resources. Where the Community Audit results in a prioritized list of Next Steps, the Assessment provides deeper insight into the resources available to put those Next Steps into action. The Assessment consists of two sections: a survey for local arts organizations; and surveys, site visits, and interviews for the local school district.
Published by the Kennedy Center, this report provides information about opportunities for arts education within the after-school arena and a protocol for evaluating quality after-school programs in the arts. The report was compiled by a joint task force of the KCAAEN and Partners in Education program.
The KCAAEN Self-Assessment Kit is a framework for State Alliances to use to conduct an assessment of their operations, programs, and services. This kit was designed for staff and board members involved with managing State Alliances. This guide will help State Alliances understand how they are performing by providing a comprehensive overview of all aspects of managing the work of State Alliances as independent, not-for-profit organizations.
Designed as a companion piece to the KCAAEN Self-Assessment Kit, the KCAAEN Leadership Kit is a framework to support leadership development needs of State Alliances. The kit helps individuals understand their leadership role as an executive director, chair with staff, chair without staff, or board member.
