The Professional Development Program
in the Arts for Art Supervisors

The Council of Metropolitan Arts Supervisors has been a school partner with the Kennedy Center Education Department since 1981. The Council membership, consisting of arts supervisors from 16 school systems in the Washington metropolitan area, meets at the Kennedy Center three times a year to address issues in the improvement of education, specifically education in the arts. Meetings provide a forum for Council members to share information about their programs and feature speakers who discuss topics requested by the Council. Members of the Council serve as advisors to the Kennedy Center regarding programming directions, and provide a link to the critical education issues affecting the schools and arts specialists. They also communicate with teachers about Kennedy Center programs.
