Leone Lewis

Leone Lewis, 2004 recipient of the VSA arts Playright Discovery Teacher award

Leone Lewis is originally from Camanche, Iowa. She moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 2000. In 2003, she landed a job teaching Theatre Arts and Technical Theatre for the Crowley Independent School District. She is a mother of six and has a very supportive husband whom she adores and loves. Her children spent many a night with her at the theatre as they prepared for the high school productions. Honestly, she claims her career is a "family effort." In her first year teaching, she had the pleasure in being a part of a wonderful group of students. At the High School, her theatre students were awarded "Best Costumes in Tarrant County" at the Betty Buckley awards and were state alternates at the UIL One Act Play contest. Her ninth graders took on the monumental task of writing one act plays for the VSA arts Playwright discovery contest. She was able to submit 31 plays to the contest this past year and plans to submit twice that this year.
