VSA and CVS Caremark All Kids Can Partnership

VSA and CVS Caremark All Kids Can share a mutual commitment to improving the lives and learning of children with disabilities and are expanding the role of arts in inclusive education through a joint yearlong program. The CVS Caremark All Kids Can program involves a two-part initiative:

  • Call to Engage
    The Call to Engage presents teaching and service opportunities to VSA affiliates, teaching artists, and CVS employees. VSA affiliates organize Artist-in-Residence and workshop programs, in which students and teachers engage in multi-week residencies and/or one time workshops. In 2010, VSA affiliates conducted residency and workshop programming in communities in 23 states: Birmingham, Ala.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Madison and North Haven, Conn.; Washington, D.C.; Brevard, Broward, and Hillsborough Counties, Fla.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Boston, Mass.; Rockville, Md.; Detroit, Mich.; Kansas City, Mo.; Reno, Nev.; Edison, N.J.; Albany, N.Y.; Bismarck, N.D.; Columbus, Ohio; Philadelphia, Pa.; Providence, R.I.; Charleston, S.C.; Nashville, Tenn.; San Antonio, Texas; Arlington, Va.; Rutland Vt.; and Milwaukee, Wis.. The Call to Engage also connects CVS Caremark with the All Kids Can CREATE initiative in their communities. Working in concert with VSA affiliates, CVS stores and employees, create and carry out activities and events within their communities such as distributing program materials, assisting artists, and participating in the selection of artwork for the All Kids Can CREATE exhibition

  • Call to Create
    VSA issues a nationwide call for art in the fall that encourages children and youth to submit artwork and share their creativity. Two pieces of artwork from each state and the District of Columbia are chosen for inclusion in an exhibition in Washington, D.C.
